Tanga Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Authority operates in Tanga City. The total population of Tanga Municipality (city) as derived from the 2002census is about 250,000 people of which about 86% live in the urban area and 14% live in villages within the Municipality. Since Water is Life hence a Human Right, Tanga UWASA, aligning itself with Sustainable Development Goal 6, National Vision 2025, National Water Policy 2002, etc., strives to keep improving access to drinking water and sanitation services for all citizens entrusted to. Current and future demands are considered in order to leave no one behind.

Human activities within or around water sources negatively impact quality of water which significantly compromises human health and threatens sustainability of water sources. We appeal to all Tanga residents, visitors and leaders to honor and respect our water sources and its catchments by avoiding all kind of human activities for any reason whatsoever.
